Question type: Maintenance & Repair

.....I have a 2006 charger RT and was installing dvd headrest to it.  While stripping the power wire a small spark occurred.  After googling the issue it possibly the anti-theft sysetem..Help I dont knw how to reset or restart my car.  All it does it turns on all the other stuff but car wont even try to start.  Even when I lock my car with remote, it does not do the horn sound to let me know it locked.  I was hoping it was the starter relay but nothing. Help!!! I don't want to take it to the dealership.

Most likely you blew a fuse. Before anything else, you should check all of the fuses. There is more than one fuse box in your car, so be sure to check all of the fuses. If you don't find any blown fuses, I'd recommend getting the car scanned. Normally I'd recommend going to advance auto, napa, or any of the major parts stores, because they will scan it for free. Since you can't do that, you can go to the parts store and buy a code scanner. You only need a very basic scanner, usually about $35. Once you have the engine p codes, you will know what circuit, or circuits, have been affected and you can start tracking down the problem.

I checked all fuses with a fuse light. They all work. My check engine light is not on so it does not detect any codes. I believe I triggered the anti-theft system and its either not registering my keys or I have to reset my anti-theft system. But I don't know if there is anyway to do that. And Tom thanks for your answer also, I learned the hard way!

Thanks Tom, But no luck. I just took it to the dealership. They said it is the Integrated Power Module and needs to be replace. Has anyone heard of that? Well if I let them fix it, It cost $800.00. Does anyone know if that a fair price? They said I can leave it there for a few days before I can make the decision.

My 07 charger is doing the same thing, it won’t turn over to start but if the key is on i can touch the inside of the starter relay with a small screwdriver and it starts right up, other relays wouldn’t start it either when I switched them so I don’t know what to check next!

There is a second relay in the TIPM box. Our charger had the same problem. We wired the starter directly to the trunk release. So now to start it, you turn the key and press the trunk button at the same time.

Ok so I have just ran into this problem in my 2007 charger and it is a pain in the ass. I don’t know what it is but reading everyone’s comments seems like this happens to everyone. Yesterday it did it again and I was trying everything to get it to start and I know Jack shit about cars. I went into the fuse box and started pushing on fuses and then went back and turned the key and I heard it turn over and I did it again and it started. Did you get that intergrated power module ? And did it fix the problem?? I really hope it’s just a bad fuse
