How do you reset the computer

Asked by Flavia_2056 Jan 29, 2017 at 10:54 PM about the 1993 Chrysler Concorde 4 Dr STD Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car went into " Limp
Home Mode" Chrysler's
new money maker. Now
at any time it jumps into
2nd gear and I have to
shut it off and wait ten
seconds or more and
then restart it. It will go
back to normal ,
sometimes for days, but
lately it does it once or
twice a day. Even going
65mph down the freeway,
all of a sudden BAM
"Limp Home Mode". Nice
try Lee Iaccoka you jerk!

If your vehicle is throwing a check engine light and putting it into limp mode. There are two ways to reset the computer without a scan tool. One is to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery give it a few seconds people say anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute I have never witnessed a vehicle holding memory if I reconnected the battery within 10 seconds. The second way is if you know the location of the PCM and it's somewhere easy to get to you can pull the main terminals out of the PCM with the same a lot of time reconnect and that will reset your PCM to learn mode. Keep in mind after a few Keys Cycles if the problem is mechanical in nature and not replaced or fixed your vehicle can go back into limp mode. Strongly suggest going into O'Reilly's Napa and have them scan it to see what codes are on your computer before you reset it.
