ABS, traction control and service 4 wheel drive lights on

Asked by Will Jul 02, 2018 at 03:52 PM about the 2011 RAM 1500 Sport Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

ABS, traction control and service 4 wheel drive
lights are on. This happened the day after I bought
my truck (2011 Ram 1500 Sport.) I took it back to
the dealership to have it fixed and they told me it
had a bad wheel bearing and speed sensor both on
the passenger front. They said they replaced them
but the light came back on the day after I drove it
home. I know they had replaced the wheel bearing
because the truck had a terrible grinding noise and
the wiring for the speed sensor looks new too. And
thing I should do to further diagnose my problem?

Check your rear wheel speed sensors. they are very easy to change, happened to my ram and changing them took care of the problem.

Did anyone get an answer? My abs light and service 4x4 lights came on after fixing the front end suspension. I am thinking it’s something with the abs wiring since I had to unplug it. Does anyone have any suggestions before I dive into this?

Just had this exact thing happen to me on the highway today, took a look under the truck and my abs harness had dislodged itself from its mounting hole on the upper control arm. Remounted it and problem was fixed, 90% of the time I’ve found an abs light to be related to the harness getting itself into a place it shouldn’t be. My first suggestion would be check every abs harness from top to bottom on all 4 wheels

After checking that all ABS lines were secure, I disconnected my battery for 30 minutes then reconnected. Upon starting, the same lights were still on, however once I placed the truck into reverse with my foot on the brake, all the lights went out. I have since put over 100 miles on with no further issues. 2011 DODGE Ram 1500. Don't know why the lights came on in the first place, but this option worked for me.

My 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn was doing the same thing. Intermittent ABS and traction control lights, no cruise or 4x4. Mine ended up being the left front wheel speed sensor. It had somehow come loose from the clip that secures the wire to the brake line. It must have gotten against something and had rubbed the insulation off of the wire for the sensor. It would trigger the ABS and TC lights when it was damp, when turning, or when hitting a bump, intermittently. This made it difficult to track as the warning lights would go off and nothing would be stored. I purchased a code reader that would read ABS for $129 on Amazon. I carried it with me until the light came on, stopped and read the code, then, and only then, I was able to locate the issue. Might not be the same for all, but it is a place to look.

My truck just came up with the ABS light on, traction control, service 4wd and BAS something. What happened is that the parking brake hardware totally snapped and the shoes were horrible, resulting in the ABS ring getting chewed up. To replace the ABS ring my entire drive side axel needs to be replaced. As well as the ABS sensor ans speed sensor and dust shield. Id take the tire off and check the parking break shoes ams hardware. I am hoping that once this is fixed my service 4wd light will turn off

I had same problem, went ahead and changed wheel speed sensors on front and rear. Started truck up, lights stayed on. Tried disconnecting battery for 30 minutes, lights still on. But when I took truck for a drive, all warning lights went off. I guess wheels had to turn so computer would reset.

All the same lights are coming on my 2009 2wd This last time it seems like the passenger side front caliper was wanting to stay engaged. The wheel had started to get hot and it was pulling to the left I turned off the truck and let it sit while we went in to eat and it acted perfectly fine on the way home and no lights and no excessive heat from that caliper and rotor on the way home. I dont know where to start
