Question type: Maintenance & Repair

yesterday, out of the blue, my 2002 Chrysler Sebring lxi suddenly seemed to slip out of drive.  It didn't
lurch or anything. I was driving about 25 - 30 mph and it was like suddenly I was rolling . It did it 3
times before I pulled over.  When I pulled over in a parking lot and then tried to put it in reverse, it
didn't go anywhere.  I shut it off for a minute, started it and it went into gear, but only for a minute.
That happened a few times when I gave up and called a tow truck. The mechanic is saying its not a
sensor (not mention of a selenoid - which I see in alot of posts)  He says at minimum $1800 - max
$2500.  I really cant afford this! Please give me some advice!!

Call around to other shops for estimates. Find out how much a used transmission from the scrapyard and a rebuilt transmission.
