I changed out the alternator on my 2011 Dodge Durango, the battery is fine, but it keeps draining my battery, what could be the problem?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck started to make a squeaking sound, so i drove it home (which
was only about a mile or two). When I got there and open my hood, smoke
poured out. It was my alternator smoking.. After getting someone to check
it out, it was replaced, but my battery wont stay charged.I end up getting
the battery tested and it fine. If I drive 2 miles, after recharging my battery,
it starts to die again. What could be the problem?

The drive belt that runs the Alternator, A/C compressor, and whatnot could be too tight, or the tensioner could be damaged (causing a loose belt, or too tight of a belt causing a damaging load on the alternator). I would start there. Best of luck!

Thank you... I will look into that. I'm hoping that its minor.

It was my PCM... I ended up taking it to a Dodge dealership and after about two weeks of having it, that's what they concluded.... When my alternator burned, it caused the computer connected to it to burn too...
