How do I tell if my CRV is 4WD or Front WD?

You are correct that your vehicle is available in 4WD as well as FWD. It is built on a FWD platform and to make it 4WD there will be a skinny drive shaft going to light duty differential in the rear, and axles extending to each wheel, underneath the vehicle. So take a look underneath in the back for axles shafts (metal rods) connecting to the rear wheel assemblies. That makes it 4WD, the way most CRV's were built.
