Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an intermittent issue with my 2000 cadillac deville when driving down the
road it will simply stop running. There seems to be no single action that can be
tied directly to this, the engine just stops. I have the Tach set to show and it will
go from a good running rate to 0 with no symptoms. I have replaced the fuel
pump but this did not cure it. Any ideas?

This could be a security system problem. If the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) loses the fuel enable signal from the BCM (Body Control Module) the engine will stall, even when driving. If this is the case a trouble code will be stored in the PCM but the Service Engine Soon light will NOT come on. If you know how to access the trouble codes using the climate control panel do that and post the codes you get or Google them to see if that's what's going on. Hope that helps! Jim
