Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is overheating and I just wanna figure out why it's overheating so I want
to take it to chevy/Cadillac but Is it free for them to look at it or will it cost money

Odds are they will charge you at least one hour of labor to diagnose problems. Dealers do nothing for free.

Ok, thanks for the feedback what would you do in my situation? It's not the heads it's no coolant coming out of the upper radiator hose and that's why it overheats I replaced the water pump, reservoir, radiator, and thermostat no luck

First of all don't pay dealer prices, go to an independent shop. There is a good chance your Northstar head bolts are pulling loose. The fix is very expensive if that it the problem.

Oh!, maybe I should just get a new engine or get it to rebuild! Seems like this will cost a lot of money!

So if the bolts are loose that will cause my Deville to overheat because I did a combustion test on it and it came out blue.

Yellow means you have blown head- or gasses in your cooling system, mine stayed blue the whole time -- did it 2 times

If the bolts were loose I would expect the test to be positive. Have you tried "burping" the system? Do it again or two or three times and see what happens. If you keep getting air in the system I would suspect the head bolts.

I tried burping the system but never got lucky the coolant would just overflow in the funnel the funnels made for burping and always ended up burning myself with the coolant.

If this were my car I would not waste the money getting another opinion. Get a quote for an exhaust product test and also price redoing the head bolts before proceeding.

Thanks again for your feedback, Tomorrow I'm going to try the burp test again and combustion again and look online for how much this will cost.

Once the head bolts start pulling loose you cannot simply replace them. There are special head bolts and tools needed to tap the block out to a larger size. This is really a job for an experienced machine shop. You should read up on the fix as it is not for the faint of heart. The kit alone is $650.

I don't know this is making me frustrated, I think I'm either going to replace the whole engine or rebuild it. It could just be the system needs to be burped I really don't know...

A rebuild won't fix a head bolt problem. Read up on it and good luck.
