ford escape 2011 check engine light came on 4,800 miles

check engine light came on  4,800 miles   tried unsuccessfully to install garage door opener yesterday.  
got gas a day or so ago.
Purchased a week ago - used with 4,500 miles on it.

Just make sure the gas cap is on tight and take it to the dealer. Its covered under warranty but if the gas cap is left loose i have heard of them charging to look at it because its considered driver error not vehicle error.

There is no "gas cap". I did insert the nozzle into the gas tank, when it was withdrawn it seemed closed but the engine light remained on.

I am not that familiar with the new "no cap" systems other than i know you can only use the funnel that comes with the car or the pump nozzle at gas stations. I would just take it to dealer.
