Could trying to program a keyfab disable the vehicle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 04 325i bmw. I lost the original key so I had to
buy another from the dealership. The key had
instructions to program the key fab. The instructions
were wrong on the procedure. While trying to program
the keyfab for some reason it now won't start. Any
ideas as to what it could be??

I don't think there is anyway you can program a key without other correct keys. Without a programmed key the security system will shut down the car. What did they tell you to do?
The instructions said to turn the key on and off 3 times then hold the unlock button while pushing the lock button three times the. Let go of the unlock button. The instructions were wrong. The key has to be turned on and off 5 times not 3. Before I got the correct procedure is when the car wouldn't run anymore. When I first got the key it ran real smooth.
Did you try the procedure again? Get into your BMW, shut the door and put your key in the ignition. Turn the key between the on and off positions five times as quickly as you can. Push the Unlock button on your E46 key and hold it down while pushing the lock button three times. At this time your BMW's door locks will lock and unlock, which signals that you've successfully completed the programming process. Finish programming your E46 key remote by turning your BMW on and off. Exit your vehicle and test the key.
If that doesn't work, contact the BMW dealer for additional help.
I really appreciate all the info given and I'm happy to say the car started. Thanks again....
