my bro's got the '95 318is, he got the light a lot when we got it in '05, but after a while it just went away, probably loose connections if u want to see it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIIlxbN2yNU

My 93 325 does the same damn thing... been doing it for a year now. I havent figured out how to stop it either aside from unplugging the thing

Apparently if one the bulbs gets a little corroded, itll throw that code. Try replacing tail or brake light bulbs.

Did u replace any brake light globes recently? If so, replace with a good make of globe such as phillips, osram!!! The resistance my be lower in cheap make globes!!! The system works on resistance!

well this happens to my 87 325e some time it will try saying the coolent is low or the brake light is out or the ebrake is up etc etc, i just ignore it and if never effects the performance of the car in anyway just check your lights and what ever starts giveing warnings that arnt truck and all will be fine

also you could try pulling the fuse but i guess if its the computer saying it that wouldnt work would it

The lights can be "good" (still work fine) but if the connections are less than steller or the bulbs getting old, it can throw the light. Also check to see that you have the proper bulbs (cheap-o's have thrown my light) and put a little dielectric grease on the connections. Could also be a connection somewhere you don't want to have to get to, and might best be left alone..
