My 2011 Sorento EX makes a clicking noise for about 2-5 seconds when the A/C heat blower starts but only in Face or bi level mode

You probably have debris of some kind in the fan. It could be leaves or even a dead mouse! You will need to remove the fan so that you can clean the debris out.

The noise is not the fan I put in a brand new one and changed the cabin filter. The noise is only in the face level mode.

I am now hearing the same clicking noise. Any suggestions?

It's not the fan. It's the motor slipping that drives the valve door. This valve redirects air to the vents. The motor isn't being turned off when it reached it's maximum point. So the little electric motor is slipping gears. I'm not sure what supposed to tell it to stop once it's reached its maximum point. I'm still trying to find that out. If anyone one knows let me know.

Correct.....my trailblaze goes into a mode where it lets outside air into the vehicle when turned off. When I start the vehicle it tries to close. The gears are stripped and they will click for a few seconds then stop. They're called actuators. My vehicle has at least 6 and 3 of them are slipping. It's a pain in the butt to get to them as they're in the dashboard. I managed to pull 2 of them out and just close or open the ones I wanted. They'll usually stay in whatever position you keep them in. Good luck.

Your problem is a bad actuator. It opens and closes the vent behind the dash to direct air where it needs to go. I have a 2015 Kia Sportage and it was replaced 14 months ago, and it’s already gone bad again. Kia refuses to make it right and thinks I’m gonna pay again for them to not fix it properly. Seems like a faulty design to me as I’ve read more than a few people complaining about this. One had a brand new Sportage and it went bad at 7500 miles
