What does the epc light mean?
The EPC light system warns drivers by sending codes to the dashboard. The codes indicate the system of the car facing a problem, but not a specific problem in the system. It indicates any faults with the traction control, throttle pedal, cruise control-, and throttle body. It can also show malfunctions and defects of the EPC. An additional sensor can be installed to find what specific problem a Volkswagen is facing when the EPC codes are displayed.It can mean a few things so it may not be good to drive. It can indicate a problem with the mass airflow sensor, throttle body or crank position sensor. The only way to tell is with a scan tool. If it is the maf or throttle body having issues, it is OK to drive. If it is sensing the crank sensor is failing and it goes bad completely, the car won't run.
Had the same problem with the EPC lights on, engine warning light, traction control and no power. Drivable at 15 kph to 20 kph. Had my Jetta towed to the dealership. They reset all the warning lights but they came back right away after I left. They finally replaced the throttle body and it seems to be running great.

2011 Volkswagen CC 2.0 Turbo. Same issue. Change spark plugs, made it worse. Changed coil packs, runs like new. Problem solved.
2010 Vw CC Sport 2.0T. my EPC Light, transmission light are on and it keeps flashing oil pressure stop engine. service engine light also. So it seemed to still be running good with all this stuff on until yesterday. it started sputtering and trying to stall any time I was under 1500 RPM's so it wont idle. My windows started rolling them shelves up and down speraticly. then my trunk pops open going down the highway. So I found the closest auto zone I could find. Ask to use the scan tool. it came up as; check for vacuum leak, random misfire on all cylinders and, camshaft position sensor. so I started with spark plugs. Same thing. Then coil packs. Same thing. Camshaft position sensor. same freaking thing. Oh yes to mention I'm a girl doing this all myself in the auto zone parking lot with no tools in the rain after my boyfriend of 10 years and I split up at 5am that morning. So anyways i checked the vacuum lines that I could locate without schematics and they all look new. my next step is throttle body. Then transmission and finally I have no idea what to do if it is the EPC. Beautiful car runs great over 1500 RPM's. Just no city cruising. lol

I have similar issues with my 09 cc 2.0 but I think I figured it out, it’s the harness. In my case I had intermittent code for low fuel pressure in the rail, sometimes EPC would turn on and other times it would sputter and sometimes would even turn off. After replacing both fuel pumps, fuel pressure sensor, fuel injectors and fuel pump control module I still had same issues. I have to admit it was running better and gave better fuel economy. I did a resistance test to the harness and it revealed no issues but I opted to bypass the rail fuel pressure sensor and the vehicle run perfect, no more stalling. In the process I did additional testing and bypassed the ground to the computer and found out it will trigger a code for temp, intake manifold, low fuel pressure and cam position. In short the wiring harness is shorting somewhere in the engine bay. I temporarily fixed it by connecting the additional ground wire from the fuel pressure sensor at the computer connector but not cutting the old ground wire connected. For the signal wire of the fuel pressure sensor I did bypass the harness after I confirmed no adverse effect. The car is running well but I still get The EPC light every now and then but the light goes away as soon as I turn off the car and restart. From what I learned VW is aware of the faulty wiring due to bad insulation but nothing is being done. I plan to replace the wiring harness next week and intend to update after a few days.
I also forgot to mentioned I also replaced the intake manifold, PCV system and throttle body but nothing corrected the low fuel pressure code, EPC code or engine stalling until I bypass the wires for the rail fuel pressure sensor. In addition I did found a corrosion issue at the harness connecting to the fuel pump module under the rear seat. I replaced the connector with 6 inches of wiring (don’t forget to weld any wire repair). And for those having issues with the trunk not closing, opening by itself as you are driving or showing a tail light warning in the dash but no burn lights, it’s the trunk harness. It also brakes at the bend in the trunk hinge.
