Drivers side door will not open on the outside

Asked by SomethingNew101 Apr 24, 2016 at 02:34 PM about the 2010 Ford Focus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The door handle on my drivers side does not open from the outside. The
handle has no tension in it whatsoever. When using the handle on the
inside there is no issue at all. Do I need to replace any mechanisms on the
inside? Where do I go about getting these? All I'm finding is the actual
handle and that doesn't need replaced. Do I need to take it to the dealer to
have a new key made for it? Trying to do this as cheap as possible

could be any or all of those things. you are going to have to remove the inner door panel to see in there. sometimes the handle itself breaks.

My car has the same problem. The Ford dealer has the metal pivot part that contacts the door handle. They wer charging about $40 for the part.
