Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Buying a 2009 Buick Lucerne CXL, after my due diligence, my
only concern is the fuel pump relay associated with the model.
Buying through Carvana, having the car delivered in a few
days.  My question is , if the car has 93,000 miles, is it
reasonable to think the relay issue has been addressed??  The
remedy is about $600, either way, if I like the car, maybe not a
deal breaker.  Have 7 days to accept or return.  Will have an
unfamiliar mechanic check car out.  Thank you for any
feedback.

Man I’d be scared as all get out buying from there, (strike one)having an know problem and no service records(strike two) and an unfamiliar shop checking it for you(strike three) I think I’m going to have nightmares about this.

My personal opinion is don't buy it! GM has been plagued with electrical problems for the past two and a half decades! They filed for bankruptcy for a reason! A 14 year old GM is going to be nothing but trouble! Did you read the vehicle history report? Does it say anything about the relay issue being addressed? If it doesn't, assume it hasn't been or assume it was "repaired" by God only knows who! Good luck to you! Jim

Buick wasn't on my radar. Car has better maintenance records than you usually find. Having 93,000 miles, I think the fuel relay problem has been addressed. I get the car tomorrow, take it too a local mechanic that I have found with a great reputation with several people I know well. I have several remedies to fix the problem. I am confident once I address the relay problem, or potential problem, the car will be solid. Thank you for your input.

Update - Keeping it short, I never took delivery pf 2009 Buick Lucerne from Carvana because of suspicious excuses on their part. I cancelled the order after several more procedural red flags. If I told the story, people would think I was making it up.

Thanks for letting us know! I think you made a wise decision! If something doesn't feel right it probably isn't. GM has been living on its reputation for the good quality vehicles it was producing in years past for a long time. There was a time when, in my opinion, GM was the best of the big three. The vehicles that they made in the 60s and early 70s were still on the road 30 years later. They started slipping in the late 70s and by the late 90s any GM from then on is just junk as far as I'm concerned. Until about 15 years ago I was always a GM guy, but not anymore. GM has been all over the internet for the past two decades now and not for anything good. Head gasket failures, intake manifold gasket failure, transmission failures, electrical problems and check engine light problems that can't be fixed, the list goes on and on. My Niece bought a new 2016 Malibu and when it was 10 months old the automatic transmission quit! She finally got the car back after two and a half months. Since then she has had 2 dead batteries and multiple check engine light problems! By contrast the 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis that I bought used in 2012 has been in the shop twice since I've owned it for the instrument cluster. Otherwise, I've put a battery in it, tires on it, and changed a few light bulbs. It's been the best vehicle I've ever owned! Even better than the 93 Chevy Caprice that I bought brand new. So I'm glad you cancelled the Buick. If you're looking for a domestic vehicle, buy a Ford product. I don't think you'll be disappointed! Jim

Nope they wouldn’t, just look at all the trouble they are in for selling stolen vehicles and vehicles with no titles.
