VSC, Traction control, and check engine light

Asked by Joshua Nov 11, 2016 at 04:50 PM about the 2008 Toyota Sienna LE 7 Passenger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife has a 2008 Toyota Sienna. About
three years ago all of these light came on.
We looked them up in the owners manual
and it said to take vehicle to dealer. We did
not need another bill. They reset it and it
came back on two days later. This time
they said it was a sensor that needed to be
replaced and the cost was $560. A few
months later the lights came back on and
the dealer said another sensor needed to
be replaced and it would cost $4500 this
time.
So I called a local mechanic and asked
him how much he would charge to do the
same work. He said that my problem is
caused by carbon built up and I need to
use a produce called AT-205. I had used
this produce before on other vehicles with
great success.
I put AT-205 in her van and the light stayed
off for three years.
The light came on today and I bought more
AT -205 again. My wife called me and after
about 10 minutes of driving she said the
lights went off.
I don't know what is in AT-205 but I would
say it is the one treatment produce that I
have had great luck with.
We only have one Auto parts dealer that
carries AT-205.

I don't know what an engine oil stop leak could possibly do with your ABS system but if it worked for you then great.

Hello I am also having this issue with my '04 Sienna . I have reported it to Toyota corporate and they claim this is the first they have heard of it....which I seriously doubt! PLEASE report your issue to NHSP (National Highway Safety patrol) as I did. We NEED to force them to take this seriously before someone loses a life. You can file a complaint here or call: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/ I also have a issue where the sliding doors appear unlocked but you cannot get out from the inside or in from the outside. Noting like feeling like I am driving around a death box. If enough reports are made they will force Toyota to do a recall.

Josh, When you put the AT205 into your wife’s van, where specifically did you do that? Did you add to your oil/engine? Or did you add the product to the power brake fluid? Note that ATP the manufacturer of AT205 does not recommend using this product in braking systems — only in engines, transmissions, power steering and differentials. I appreciate your feedback.

Went through everything mentioned with same and a different vehicle. After spending lots of money, found out it was bad gas. Ingles gas allows the reserve to fall below 1000 gallons and typical condensation in tank gets pumped into cars. Oil company stations are set not to fall below 1000 gallons for that reason.

Cmv Hi I just started having problem about 1 week ago after being in a car accident. I was rear ended, now my car is showing the VSC and Slip indicator. When I drove my car it felt like the break fell off the car and my car will stopped while driving on the freeway, street road and etc. It was dangerous and I had my kids in the car. I wonder if they had recalls on these cars, the sensor are sensory. I think my sensor were engaging the slip detector even when its not needed. Now I am not able to drive it the slip detector will engage every munite and the car stopped and froze even put on driving gear. Please let me know if there was ever re-calls on these car. I have never had this problem before.
