Interchangeable tires

Question type: Car Customization
Would it be suitable to use my winter tires from my 2008 Ford Edge for my new 2012 Jeep Grand
Cherokee? I have the tires posted for sale, but since its summer, not having many takers - but we are
moving and didn't want to lug them if they are no good to me any longer.
thanks.

if the tires are original size .. then yes you can, but running with the EDGE tires will falsify your speddo readings .. your speed will show faster that you are actually going ( 60 on the speedo will be about 57 real). As for your RIMS, they are not compatible .. EDGE uses 4.5 inch bolt patern and the Jeep uses a 5 inch bolt pattern. check it out here .. http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Jeep has been a Chrysler product since the 1980's. All the Chrysler products except vans and trucks that use a 5 lug bolt system are 4.5 inch apart just as the Ford is. Now they might have changed it just recently but all the Jeeps I've had all had the 4.5 x 5 bolt spacing on them just like the Ford products. I would double check by calling your local Jeep dealership and asking their service dept. what the bolt spacing is on your new Jeep. I would bet it's 4.5 inches. just like Ford.

If they bolt on,and clear the calipers,then- your fine..In the harsh winter months, who"s going to check the speedometer, any ways!?? You"re surely, not going to "rally-race<" are you??

Just, check, for clearance,as you dont want to "rub" the front fenders,on your new ride..
