2008 pacifica lockout reassembly

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I replaced the pink lockout mechanism that breaks
on my 2008 Chrysler Pacifica. After reassembling
everything the key will not come out which I've read
means that the cable of the lockout mechanism is not
in the correct position. Can someone tell me how I
can figure that out how do I find out what is the right
position? It's my daughter's car and the figure out so
she does not to take the battery cable off every time
she parks the car.

Simple fix is to remove the housing in the front of the center console which covers the cable that connects to the shifter. If you reach in with your fingers and slide the cable up using the bead that is crimpted to it that will release the key (do both simultaneously). There is a video or two on YouTube to show you how. This doesnot fix the core problem (when you drive the car and turn it off you will have the same problem) but makes the car operational.
