2009 jeep liberty heat

Asked by Jbjeep01 Jan 19, 2017 at 03:03 PM about the 2008 Jeep Liberty Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 jeep liberty.  The heat has completely
store on the drivers side.  The blower works but the
drivers side vents blow cold air.  The wierd part is
that the passenger side still heats up.  It is divided
exactly down the middle of the car.  Both the intake
and the outtake heating core pipes are hot, doesn't
that mean hot water is going through the core?
Would this be a damper problem? Dealership said
it was the core and the temp of the hoses didn't
matter. They also said it can't be back flushed.
With the hoses being hot and the temp being so
perfectly divided I don't think it's the core.  I need
some opinions.

sorry , i don't have solution but have same issue on 09 liberty, replaced heater core 3 years ago $$$ and replaced heater box last year $$$, passenger sided blows hot and drivers side blows cold , dealer says maybe heater core is blocked. which doesn't make sense if heat on passenger side and controls are not dual controls. Also replaced blend door actuator(needlessly) . There must be a door some where that is not directing hot air to drivers side.

Flush your heater core out both ways. Let sit with clr then flush again.

I had the same issue in my Jeep. One half of your heater core is for the passenger side and the other half is for the driver side. If the driver side is clogged it will by pass it and go through just the other half. This will cause intake and outtake tubes to be warm but only half your heater core is hot. I put in a good antifreeze cleaner. Drove the vehicle for a few hours on the highway, then immediately drained the radiator and then flushed the normal way and then went back and back flushed with water at a high preassure. (yes this may put a hole in the heater core) but I was okay chancing a hole. If you do put a hole in the heater core then you replace it but if you don't then you are good to go. from the sounds of it you have the exact same issue and this will fix it. It took me 3 flushes over the course of a year to finally get it all cleaned out.
