2008 Dodge Caliber RT not driving correctly

Asked by jessneal Mar 21, 2017 at 03:54 PM about the 2008 Dodge Caliber R/T FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was going down the road and all of a sudden my car just
slows down, not even going 10 miles an hour. I was
pushing on the gas but it didn't rev up or go any faster. i
pulled over, turned my car off and then back on and it let
me go down the road so that i could park it in a parking
lot. my uncle came to drive it around and see what he
thought may be wrong with it and he said that the car
wasn't shifting on it own, you have to manually shift it.
does anyone know cost wise, how much i'm looking at?
or what exactly could be wrong with the car?

It's impossible for anyone here to tell you what's wrong without personally inspecting the car, but you might want to start by getting the diagnostic trouble codes scanned, which you can do for free at any auto parts store. It seems to me it went into "limp mode," a feature designed to keep you from damaging the engine is something is wrong (like overheating or loss of oil pressure). so get your codes scanned then post them here and we'll have a better idea what's wrong with it.
