How do I check the fluid level in a chevy hhr 2.2 liter 5 speed manual transmission

there should be a drain plug on the bottom of the transaxle and one on the top. That is the fill hole. Remove it and if fluid comes out, the level is good. make sure the vehicle is level when checking.

I have a 2006 her 5speed, can’t find the drain plug. Accidentally over filled and need to remove some, any ideas
