does the radiator fan motor run as soon as the car starts or does it come on at a certain temperature?

The radiator fan should kick in once the temperature reaches a certain level.

The radiator fan comes on as soon as the ECM detects the coolant at a preset temperature. It should turn off when the coolant temperature goes below the preset temperature. Both fans will turn on when your turn on the AC.
