will gas miles go down if timing belt is put on a noch off

i put a new timing belt on my gas miles went way down ,it runs good good power kia

f the belt is off a notch it would not have good power,..it's something else. Let's not do a bunch of guessing...get your OBD codes and we will work from there. You may have left a wire off doing your job, something like that. it may have decent power, the ECU is compensating as best as it can but the valve timing and spark plug ignition can be only compensated only so much by the computer. The crankshaft position sensor will still tell the UCU to fire at 8ยบ BTDC but the valves are not closed So OBD codes at any parts house and bring them back here ...the ECU may need to be re set. Hate to have you go back in.
