13 year old car... sounds like the shift linkage is very worn or a bushing has fallen out. You will need to rebuild the shifting system to fix it.

I bought this car of 5000$ a year ago. Inside perfect outside paint and body good. Clear coat fading in some areas. It need catalytic converters and now this. I am putting it up for sale. Thanks for the info.

You are smart to consider selling it. The smaller Jags just don't seem to be built with the same quality as the larger ones. the early "S" and "X" types have all had trouble.

Wish I had time to part it out. I think I could get most of my money back. I'll be lucky to get 2 grand. I'd like to put it up for 3 grand. It has -104000 miles on it. What do you think?

I don't know where you are located but you might be able to get $3k. I'll put it to you like this... you can ask anything you want and then take what you think will be the best you can get after you hear a couple of offers. Good luck.
