will work, depends on miles and use. would run 10w40 summer 10w30 winter
5w30 would be my suggestion.
5w-30 is recommended fluid, 10w-30 won't hurt. It's an old 4.3, they arnt very picky
My truck 1994 Silverado 1500 extended cab. My question is I have 196000 miles on the motor, what's the best motor oil to use.
If you're only using it for light duty, you're supposed to start with the lighter 5w30. If it uses any oil, then go to the next heavier wt., like 10w30. After that would be 10w40, and then : 15w40. I have an '05 Silverado with a 4.8 , and have been using 5w30 since it was brand new. It only has 68,000 miles, but it seems to be happy with it. My '83 Jeep with the 4.3 vortec uses the same 5w30 oil. That motor has less than 35,000 on it. The harder you work it, the heavier the oil.
Would 5w30 be okay to mix in with 10w30? It’s a 4.3l and I’d only be putting half of 5w30
93 Chevy Cheyenne Vortec V6 4.3 says on the lid 5w 30
