How Long Does ECM Take To Set Timing After Distributor R/P?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We had a P0307 code for a long time on my 99 suburban, 5.7. Distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires all changed, Cam Sensor changed. Turns out it was a bad injector, so the spider has just been changed. Now the car runs well but the shop is not happy with the idle. Question is how long before the ECM detects proper alignment of distributor and times properly? How many miles/hours, etc?

The computer should set timing right away. There may be a vacuum leak, or something wrong with the Air Idle Control Valve. Make sure that port is cleaned out good, that is a major source of vacuum.
