Right turn signal not working when cold?
Asked by ParkAvenueBeast Feb 13, 2014 at 10:32 AM about the 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My wife has a 1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra she drives for work. The last two
mornings have been cold, anywhere from 5 below to 10 degrees above zero. Both
mornings the right turn signal does not have a light that displays, either inside or
outside. The left turn signal works. In the afternoon, after the car has sat outside in the
sun and the temperature warmed up a little, the right turn signal works fine like nothing
ever happened? Any ideas?

I have seen turn signal flashers cause that problem before!

We just ordered a turn signal flasher earlier this morning. We had replaced it in October 2013 because of a different issue so it is still under warranty. We thought putting in a new one was a good place to start in case it was defective.
ok let me know if that fixed it...if not I can give you some other ideas

Will do. I have heard everything from the bulbs, sockets, and the multi- function switch ..... as well as the flasher unit.
most likely will not be a bulb issue if its not flashing on the inside of the car!!! Multi function switch would be my next guess!!! Does the turn signal light up on the inside just not flash or no light on at all?

Right turn signal --- no light inside --- the last two mornings when cold. Works later in the day as it gets warmer outside. Left turn signal is flashing correctly.
Most likely it's just the flasher because it makes connection on the left turn signal but not switching over when you turn on the right side that would cause no light on the inside of the vehicle
