First you need to check and make sure that your phone is compatible with BMW. You can go to BMW and look on the list of phones that will work with their system. If you can not find the list, email me the Phone make and model and I will look it up for you. Next there is a procedure to use with your phone or you can take it to a BMW salesperson, who can do it for you in a short period of time.
Mainly what you need is the bluetooth code from the car, then follow the procedure in the owner's manual. My android phone works in my '06 so yours should work too. If you don't have the code, it won't allow the phone to sync with the car.

I don't have the manual for the business cd that tells how to put the car in BT Pairing mode. How do I do that?
You need the bluetooth code off your TCU (telematics control unit) or in with your owners manual. With out this code you cant activate bluetooth. Once you have it turn your key to the on position and press the R/T button on your steering wheel and the radio should say activate phone the radio is now in paring mode. Pair you phone with the vehicle and when it asks for the code enter the bluetooth code from the car. The phone will then be paired to the vehicle. Hope this helps.
The radio doesn't say that, the screen just has dashes...suggestions?
Hi, a new question for an old topic. Does anyone know how I can check if my new Microsoft/Nokia Lumia 950 is compatible with the Bluetooth kt in my 2007 Z4 2.5si? As far as I can see, the BMW website says that only the old Nokia 6151, 6230i and 6233 will work, but surely more modern ones will?
i get to the point where i enter the code and nothing happens. it tells me that it couldn't connect with my car.SMH
After I read both Steven and Robert's reply above I gave my own pairing a try, thanks! I found the instructions in my manual somewhat hard to follow but was successful. My Motorola Android paired with my '06 Z4 roadster AFTER I started the engine and found and entered the passcode from my manual. The passcode is entered on the phone while the display on the car radio says Phone. Made a phone to verify and it has worked fine since.
