I owned a 94 Lumina, follow the instructions here to remove the radio. Basically dash needs to be popped off, then remove 4 screws, then yes I would get a aftermarket wire adapter for your car (roughly $10-15) at your local walmart. http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalChevyLumina1.htm

Alright so is there a special tool to remove the dash or do I need to grab both ends and pull?
Check out Crutchfield online for installation instructions, adapters and other things you need.
Here's the tool puller, you can get these at harbor Freight stores or Walmart too I believe. If you google search "Trim removal tools" then it will give you a bunch of options; should be around the $10 to $15 mark. I had to remove my car stereo last week in my 1994 Lumina. Just be careful on the plastic pieces behind the trim, they tend to snap sometimes, but it feels/sounds like you'll break something, but you won't. They have these clips that you pull. I found it easier to use the puller tool first part way then pull the rest off.
