How do I find the fuse for the power outlets on a 1998 Chrysler Town and Country?

Asked by etraytin Aug 09, 2015 at 09:11 PM about the 1998 Chrysler Town & Country LX LWB FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday I was running a little air compressor off the power outlet in my 1998 Chrysler
Town and Country, when the compressor overheated and shut off abruptly. After that
happened, the power outlet didn't work anymore, nor did the other power outlet in the
back of the car. I strongly suspect I blew a fuse, but the owner's manual does not list a
power outlet fuse in its list of fuses. Does anybody know which fuse is the problem, or
how I can figure it out? Thanks so much!

Most cig lighters, are direct wired, meaning no fuse, may have burnt the socket out,it runs both of them, check the wire to socket in front, there will be fire at it,you will have to replace socket for them to work.

Town and Country vans from that era do have a fuse on the main fuse block next to the engine marked 'Cig/Accy' (small fuses - 7th fuse from the bottom). (On 1999 Chrysler T&C Limited)

Thanks jdubya, found fuse as described on my wife's '99 T&C LXi. Went to borrow same fuse from my '99 T&C Limited (because of course she needs hers working first thing tomorrow!) and found on my van fuse arrangement is different, but is still diagrammed inside fusebox cover, so found fuse (small fuse 4th from top right), and hers works now…
