New water pump leaking on 90 Buick regal

My new water pump keeps leaking. Why.

Depends on where it's leaking from. Any chance you forgot the gasket or sealer around the perimeter edge of pump or is it leaking out of the weep hole at bottom? If you over tighten the belt it can put unwanted tension to the water pump bearing. Good Luck!.

Make sure the bolts you took out go back in the same holes they came out of. There may be a crack at that offending area in the metal. Would inspect if o.k. re-apply the gasket or sealer according to shop manual installation. Give the sealant time to cure without being exposed to coolant. Might have to drain off some coolant to let it cure first. Good Luck!
