Asked by Sarah Jul 01, 2011 at 04:54 PM about the 2006 Jeep Commander Base 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My commander is unpredictable. we now have 84,000 miles on it and just today the jeep wouldnt start up and all the dashboard warning lights are on. we cannot get it to start up. Wondering who has had this issue and what the results were. I am frustrated. the Jeep is fantastic in its abilities except for the CONSTENT unknowing distruction under the hood!!!!

I had this problem, it was the battery, it was fine one minute and giving your symptoms the next, unless the vehicle you are jumping it with has a larger battery it wont jump iether, plus it had to stay connected for around 5 minutes to get enough into it to start. new battery solved immediatly

Check the plugs on your ECU. I believe it would be under the driver's seat on a Jeep Commander. If they feel like they are slightly loose, trim a small piece of electrical tape, and fit it around the OD of the plug, trimming it just before the latching mechanism. Plug it back in, and hopefully you'll have Happy Trails!

I am having the same problem with my 06 commander expected mine starts up.. I could go a week or two and no lights will be on then randomly while driving all my lights will come on one by one and then all the gages will stop working ect. It will do this off and on like this for 2-3 days then everything will go off again!! Please help!!! I already replaced my ECU/ECC and it’s not my battery because it is the right battery for my commander!! I am getting so stressed out over this!!! As I am going through colon cancer right now on top of my Jeep now doing all this.. I am so ready to cry.. anybody have any ideas?? Also my ignition switch was just changed out by the dealer for a recall.. and all they did was “rebuild” my old ignition switch.. again any ideas?? Please email me at lilmrsmoody09@gmail.com
