my truck battery keeps dyeing

i have a 1998 Tahoe that sits in my garage in Georgia and gets driven once and  
gets driven once and a while. the battery kept loosing its charge so i took it to a
mechanic and they checked the starter and alternator and said it was my
battery. Truck is still doing the same thing.

Even in 98 the computers pull power just sitting, most good batteries will last a week or slightly more without starting after that the voltage is too low to start the engine. You need a battery maintenance charger and hook it up and plug it in during the down time. They also make solar maintenance chargers.

Check your owner's manual to be sure but I believe you can disconnect the negative battery cable while it's sitting without any problems. I do that with my 2000 Grand Prix and the battery stays charged, even though the winter months, without any problems. Hope that helps! Jim
