Are there supposed to be 2 chip board pieces in the trunk of a 1999 Mazda Miata?

I know there is one over the battery on the right but should there be a larger one over the
spare on the left?

Dont know much about a miata. But from what I have seen all vehicles have a cover over the spare when its in the depression in the trunk. I would assume yours should have one also.

Thanks.. I thought so as well. Can anyone else confirm or possibly include pictures of their trunk?
I would certainly think so. I really don't think Mazda would be so cheap in manufacturing the car to expect you to pile bags of groceries on the spare to save a $5 cover.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get a picture of the actual chip board cover. Thanks for the info!
Yeah I was too but couldn't find one. Hopefully somebody that has a Miata will see this thread

I looked on ebay and what is advertised as a spare tire and battery cover is the piece on the right that covers the battery.
Here a bunch of trunk images if that will help. -- http://images.info.com/searchw?page=1&qkw=Mazda+MX-5+Miata+trunk
LOL...Wish my 2011 Miata had a spare, but I AM glad the battery is in the Engine compartment vs the trunk.. I'm contemplating getting run-flats as that Mazda fix-a-flat kit in the trunk might not cut it. Here's a pic of one of the sections that you're asking about for the 1999 model which looks like it covers the spare tire in the recessed well in the back.

Thank you so much! Yes, that is exactly what I was looking for. I thought I was missing a piece to the left of that one... thinking there were 2 pieces in the trunk but what you are showing is exactly what I have. Thanks!
Glad I could help with what you're looking for :) The configuration of my trunk is very different from yours (see pic), but I had an idea of what I thought you meant....It's a great car (and also my 1st convertible) and definitely happy with my MX-5! Hope you're enjoying yours as well :)
