Well i have had wonderful sucess after buying the benz. I have the oil changed as specified and don't dog it out. I've replaced the waterpump as it was loose and went ahead and had a fan clutch installed also. The milage now is 220000 and no problems at all and would trust it to go anywhere. The Benz is a very good quality vehicle and i would recommend it to any one. I plan to buy a newer model in the near future and will always buy a mercedes.

I would only recommend buying one if it was produced after the 2001 facelift. Quality was usually better after that point in time.

We have a 1999 with slightly over 285000km on it. We had to replace the steady bearing around the 200 mark and there was a problem with the hose for the power steering but that has been it. Our mechanic has suggested that it will probably need strut work within the next 5000 or so but overall it has been great. We are now selling it because I found a 2000 with only 53000 on it. Very happy with Mercedes in terms of the older models as prior to these we had a 1980 300D.

I have anML 350 with 120000 miles. I only use synthetic oil 5w30 and change exactly every 8000 miles. I get 26.5 mpg at 68 mph and 23 at 75 mph. I always do the required service checks and this has been a great car. I expect to get at least 300000 miles out of this machine.

I'm thinking about buying a 2010 with 123k miles from a MB dealership. How do I know if the previous owner has done all the maint on time? The dealer wouldn't have this info, would it? Also is it better to buy from a dealer where you don't know who owned it or better to buy from a private party who can show all the maint records?

Hi Shannon , the dealership if a certified Mercedes dealership will have a car fax report and a matinence report on the car your interested in purchasing. I’m also buying a ml350 from a Mercedes dealership and I got all the records and reports. Look for things like oil changes and services done on schedule for the car your buying , typically you’d want something with 1-2 previous owners and no accidents. I’d suggest bringing in your own mechanic or test drive it to your mechanic and get a second opinion, Incase it needs anything you can try to haggle with the dealerships service dept! I knew nothing about used cars but my very savvy friend is teaching me ! Being a woman I never really took the time to learn because it doesn’t interest me but research is important! Good luck ! Check the carfax ! Have it inspected!

I have 2008 ML320CDI with 103,000 miles. Last of the CDI before bluetec came. Oil change every 5000 miles (DYI using mityvac suction equipment) and alternately by the dealer. Major repairs done: Replaced transmission contact plate and front suspension. Religiously follow maintenance schedules but not all by the dealer. Currently get 27mpg on flat freeways and 23mpg average. Worse parking lot traffic at 18mpg on a hot San Antonio, Tx weather. This baby is a TANK! Drives smooth, quiet and very comfortable. Steering feel is firm and composed especially on freeways. Sometimes I go over 100mph and drives like my S and E class. Paint and aesthetics last forever. I'm now thinking of converting it into a jurrasic park 4x4 beast with lifts, A/T tires, skid plates, etc as my "Doomsday" toy :-)

We have owned 2002, 2007 and 2011 ML 350s and recently purchased a 2018 GLE. Each model of this car has been a substantially better vehicle than the prior version. The 2002 rode pretty rough compared to later models. The 2011 is a ROCK. I had a 2013 Acadia Denali that I had all maintenance performed on religiously, with my wife driving the ML and also doing a regular job of maintaining that. At 100K miles, the Mercedes still drives and looks like a new car and needed only tires and brakes and a couple of other minor repairs. I spent thousands on the GMC and at 100K it had noticeably seen better days. I expect to drive the 2011 ML for another 50K and then evaluate, but expect it will comfortably make it to 200K if I want to drive it that long. I trust the reliability and safety of that car unequivocably.

My ML320 just turned 21 this past January, and currently has 305,000 miles. No significant repairs beyond oil change, brakes, points/plugs, and tires -- all as expected at major mile points. Plenty of acceleration, heated beautiful leather seats, all-wheel drive, ABS, Bose sound system, moon roof, and much more. I would drive it until it hits 1,000,000 miles -- but I'd have to live until 135. Bottom line: If you purchase an ML that's been well maintained, there is NO MAX MILES limit on drivability.
