Electrical problem Dodge ram 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi.
I have a problem with the lights of my truck.
Sometimes when I turn on the lights only park lights
go on and not the other lights. When this happens
my right side back turn signal en brake light don’t
work.  Also the hi beam is only on one light. And my
windscreen washer doesn’t work either.
If I drive around turn off the car after half an hour,
turn it back on everything works fine.
Somethings when I turn on the lights and nothing
happens I rapidly turn off and on the lights and
suddenly it all works fine.

Is this a computer problem or something else.

Thx for the help.

Sounds like it could be the switch itself. May have a high beam out. I would test/check all the tail light bulbs & connectors & grounds & wire harness too. Lights are not controlled by the computer but headlight have relay and all are on fuse/fuses, may have some issues there need fixed. Have someone push brake when it happens and pull that tail light out that does not work and use a test light to probe the back or connector to see if test light lights up is & turn blinkers on to test, with some of those lights if one does not work all the time for what ever reason then the others do not either so make sure all bulbs are good.

Thx. All the lightbulbs are good. Backlight are new, two days old. Can it be the switch? The fog light work fine also the park lights work fine. If it doesn’t work it’s the right back side. The left side works fine. New lightbulbs in the front, also the windscreen washer stops working when the lights don’t work.

If it was just the back right I would think the wire harness to it was bad or lost ground but with the wipers too points to the switch but brake lights should work on either side and if not then that would point to a fuse junction box problem or a wire harness problem. May be in between switch and brake switch to fuse box. Mystery if its not the switch.

Thx. Going to order a new switch. Start there. Of No charge im checking the junction box.

what switch did you purchase and did it work. i’m having the same issues but it’s a lot worse. I think there’s electrical issues in the transmission too because i just got it rebuilt. The wiring harnesses in my truck suck lmao. I just can’t pin point the problem
