Dodge Ram 1500 won't start every once in awhile

Isn't the air conditioner supposed to turn off when you turn off the key?  Mine doesn't, and I think it used to.  My truck every once in awhile won't start, motor won't turn over at all.  I replaced the batters and the alternator.  Took it into the dealer, no help.  The only thing I can think of is if I accidentally leave the a/c on, can this drain the new battery so much overnight?
