why are my speakers crackling when i turn my music up?

Asked by Carl Jan 26, 2015 at 10:22 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet S-10 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 ext cab ls chevy s10. I bought
my truck a couple months ago
thinking the front speakers were just
blown because they crackled when I
turned the music up to a certain
point. so I ordered a couple of 4x6
kickers for the dash because that's
the speakers that I thought were
blown... I replaced the speakers and
the head unit. the new wiring I did
myself was done right. yet still the
popping and crackling... if I change
some audio settings such as the mid,
bass, and treble I can turn it up a
little louder but still the same.

Are you sure its not from the door panel speakers? That's where I have the same noise from in my 97' S-10 ......

I tried it with just acc on and still there.. and I'm positive it isn't my door speakers. I am changing the door speakers tonight so I will update on the possibility of it being the door speakers.

always replace doors and dash speakers on any car. that way youll know speakers are good. i replaced mine with rockford fosgate, if nknew speakers dont sound good then you did something wrong with the wiring.
