Why does my 1997 Frd F250 try to start when I turn on my low beams?

Asked by GuruDN5BB Sep 03, 2017 at 03:24 PM about the 1997 Ford F-250 2 Dr XL Standard Cab LB HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Several weeks ago low beams would not come on for a couple of day. Issue
seemed to have resolved itself. Several days ago tuck made an awful
grinding noise as though the starter was trying to engage again. Upon further
investigation I discovered that when headlight switch is turned on truck tries
to start and actually does when ignition switch is turned forward therefore I
get the grinding noise when truck is running and lights are turned on. Anyone
have any ideas what could be causing this.

1 Answer

Possibly a short in the steering column wiring or elsewhere that is connecting circuits.
