How about fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator or fuel injectors? Also and maybe first thing, look at the throttle plate (butterfly) itself. Make sure its clean. If not clean it well with carb cleaner.

Hey Dana, its going to be the fuel pressure regulator, throttle plate probably needs to be cleaned too. Start with the throttle plate first.

I am having a similar type issue, however My 2000 Impala does not rough idle. It turns over and as long as my foot is on the gas it runs, the moment I take my foot off the gas it stalls. I am currently replacing the fuel filter. The fuel pump was replaced a year ago, I am going to clean the throttle body next but I am unsure if I am really needing to do this or if there is something else I should be doing. I'll be damned if I take this car back to the shop just so it can break down again ( thinking my impala is a lemon it has been in the shop more than I have been driving it)

I had a similar issue. There was carbon build up in the fuel injection system. Once the idle air control valve was cleaned and fuel induction service was performed, the car started and idled fine.

The MAP SENSOR was faulty on my 3.8 an because of that the computer was not supplying the correct amount of fuel. Disconnect the wires going to the map sensor with car running then turn it off. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery use a jumper wire to go from the ground to positive terminal . this clears are the engine codes an allows the car to run with out the map sensor plugged it . re connect ground wire an start the car ... Drive it will run fine
