Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2005 Chevy suburban 4wd. It has 155,000
miles. It now has what I believe to a short or
something. My check engine light,abs,brake,
traction control, and security light are illuminated.
The doors will not lock the windows sometimes
work and the transmission is shifting late. Also the
speedo sits at zero the other gauges still working
so far

Could be an ECU issue because the trans gets signal from Engine. Now maybe its coincidental but I doubt it. Have check engine checked and go from there! Now it could be a ghost code

Now if Alternator is not charging all lights could cause that too. If the car is struggling to stay running thst could do it or a faulty computer
Scan tool will not get any codes it just says error. Also the engine runs great so far hasn't missed a beat. But as of an hour ago the tire pressure light is now on

Ok you would need a program like Diamond logic. It will tell you if the PCM has faults but more than likely your pcm could have a short. Now what we call Power Control Module I believe GM calls it a body control Module. I looked it up and all the lights you have listed is ran by that. I could be bad connection at the BCM. Either unplug it and plug it back in an see if lights clear I believe it could be contacts or bad BCM
Thanks for the replies should have mentioned that the battery control module and the ebcm were change by the dealership.

Oh wow. There you go thats the culprit
Should I change them again? They said that those two parts are what was causing the problem so they changed them and $1,900 later the problem still persists.

Yes but those parts you purchased from the dealer should be warranty. They can flash the computer. If not your better off getting them from a junkyard where you know car was running they will test it before selling parts and its only about $100
Ok thank you. I'll get a new computer from a yard and go from there. Do I have to take the whole truck in for the flash or just the CPU?

First step have dealer flash it. They will need entire truck. Flashing a PCM is about $80. Then if that doesnt work go to a junkyard and pick one up with the same info 05 chevy surburban 4wd etc.
Ok thanks again. Just so I got this correct I should go back to dealership have them flash the parts they put on already and if that doesn't work go get 1 from junkyard. Which part are they flashing the ebcm or battery control module?
Been a long time but finally got an update. It ended up being the transfer case module that sits under dash by the bcm.
