2005 Toyota Camry 3.0 V6, Rough idle, check engine light, gas smell in exhaust

Asked by Guru7V3ZY Jun 08, 2020 at 08:50 PM about the 2005 Toyota Camry XLE V6 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Idles rough when it starts and when stopped some
times. Gas smell at the exhaust.
I replaced the spark plugs. Seemed a little better. I
replaced the old battery and it ran great for about 3
starts. Any ideas the only thing the diagnostic said
was misfires. Any suggestions? Thanks

Update: the recheck on the code reader after running for a bit with new plugs and battery. It said mix was lean. A leak at the airfilter housing fixed the idle. I am running some fuel system cleaner through to try to clean it up from the junk that may have got through before. As for my only response. If I’m driving a 15yr old car there’s a good chance I don’t have the income for a mechanic whenever something goes wrong. I probably wouldn’t have asked here for that advice.
