Wet components causing dashboard shutdown

Asked by RoCarxxxx Jul 01, 2016 at 08:46 AM about the 2002 Toyota Camry XLE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few days ago I noticed a large puddle under my car on the garage floor.  Then yesterday all of the dashboard functions shut down.  The mechanic fixed it by drying off several computer(?) parts, but couldn't explain how they got wet.  Any ideas?

Not sure but I have an idea, could be a hose that is dry rotten or maybe just not tight or the heater core gone bad.

Yes, but there is no water at all in the passenger compartment, only in the engine compartment.

I suggested a hose problem to the mechanic, but he said no. In any case, it's his problem now - I just sold the car to him.

When a vehicle has a Moon/Sun Roof, the corner drain hoses sometimes start to leak. Water runs down the A/B pillars and under the Dash saturating the Electricals residing there. Just a thought.
