2002 v6 camry seems to skip when deceleration while on cruise

While on cruise car runs fine until going downhill...then it feels like it is skipping or trying to maintain set speed.

Is your foot on the brake pedal when this vehicle is "skipping"?

No. I went on a long trip this weekemd and the care seems to be trying to maintain cruise control setting while desending a hill. Then it runs perfectly on flat or incline. Could there be a filter in need of replacement?

Try this. When this vehicle is skipping on a down a hill....shut off the cruise. If the skipping disappears...it is definitely a cruise problem. If "skipping" persists...its an engine control problem. Ideally we would road test this vehicle with a scan tool in place. This would provide much needed data ...helping us pinpoint the cause of this issue.
