Try cleaning your Idle Air Control Valve. Here's a short "how to" video if you've never done it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i82s4ZfR2js I would think if you were having trouble with your throttle position sensor or cam sensor, it would be sending a code. Another possibility could be your ambient air sensor. That sends info to computer which regulates idle, fuel mixture. If it has totally failed, that may explain why the car will not stay running.
This just happened to my 2010 Camry. Long story short, my "security needed to be reset." I don't know exactly what the means, but the AAA guy fiddled with my key fob and the physical lock on my driver's side door, and suddenly my car was fine. You might have to Google how to reset the security, but whatever he did wasn't complicated and didn't cost me a dime.
after my thermostat replaced i no longer have that problem.
