2001 Outback Odometer and Clock Do Not Turn Off.

Asked by YaBoiMileHigh303 May 20, 2018 at 05:30 PM about the 2001 Subaru Outback Limited Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So i recently bought a 2001 Subaru Outback
Limited. Since i have gotten the car i noticed
the on dash odometer and clock do not turn
off when the car is turned off and key is
removed... Its this normal? I cant seem to
find anything about it in the owners manual.
Also in the morning when i try to start the
car it won't turn over at all sometimes. It just
clicks once each try. But if i try a few times it
will finally turn over and start. Almost like a
dead battery i think. Which is why I'm
wondering if the odometer and clock may
be draining the battery and causing this
maybe? And if it's not supposed to stay on
then How do i fix this?

my 2001 Subaru outback does the same thing the clock, odometer and trip is on... BUT... the outside temp is out... I even rolled my window down and checked a few hours later... concerned because just replaced a bad battery that would not hold a charge for 2 days... I also replaced the Alternator (not needed) and cleaned pos cable and 6 ground cables... because I'm going on a road trip... as soon as i figure out my voltmeter looking for a drain if there is one... new battery seem strong sitting a day and 4-5 quick starts back to back
