Could this be a throttle sensor?

Asked by jenoh73 Sep 27, 2015 at 06:30 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2005 Pontiac  Grand Prix GT when starting it sometimes it starts fine and runs fine.  Other times when starting I have to push on the accelerator and then it runs very rough.  When this happens it also will not accelerate when you push on the gas petal like it is not getting gas.  It seems to be getting worse.  Could this be a throttle sensor?

No not the throttle postilion sensor, but the air idle control, they get gummed up and need to be cleaned, I hear Auto Zone can test either one.
