won't shift out of first gear

It might be as simple as being low on trany fluid. It also might need the transmission filter changed. If it's clogged it wont shift. Otherwise it's the transmission module (if it has one) which would have a vaccum line running to it. If that is bad, oil would come out of the vaccum line when you disconnect it.
