Any GM v6 motor will bolt up to your 4T40E tranny, max HP 175. However I believe the 3.8 (BOP-Chev) will also bolt up, with some minor work. It's probably the best V6 produced by GM and is very available. Or, you could swap out the tranny at the same time, which honestly is less work than just swapping the engine. The 4T65E is the same size as your tranny, but with the gears that let the 3.8 engine do it's stuff. Look for the supercharged series 3. Check this page also: http://www.gmtuners.com/gminfo.htm and then see which trans each engine came with.
