service engine soon code for thermostat?

Asked by WendiRenae Jan 25, 2016 at 07:51 AM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Pontiac grand-am...runs like a top. My service engine soon light keeps popping on and when they run the codes it says something about the thermostat which I dono't understand because I am seeing nothing wrong on any gauges otherwise or hearing or seeing a problem with the car. Is this truly what it is or could it be something else?

Ok, it may be low coolant, or the temperature sending unit needing to be replaced.

A thermostat is an inexpensive part, I would change it as they do not last forever.
